Request Account and Data Deletion
This page details how users of the COM Argentina app (developed by Club de Observadores de Mariposas de Argentina) can request the permanent deletion of their account and associated personal data, in full compliance with Google Play Store policies.
1. How to request account deletion
You can request deletion through either of the following two methods:
Method A: Directly from the app or website
Sign in to your account on the app or web.
Go to your Profile → Edit profile (or visit /perfil/editar/).
At the bottom of the page, click "Delete account".
Confirm the action in the prompt.
Method B: Without the app installed (Via Email)
If you have uninstalled the app or prefer contacting support directly:
Send an email to: comargentina1@gmail.com
Subject: Solicitud de Eliminación de Cuenta - COM Argentina
Include in the body the registered email address linked to your account.
Your request will be processed and confirmed within a maximum of 30 days.
2. Types of data that are deleted
Authentication credentials: Your record in auth.users and your email address are permanently removed from our servers.
Public profile: Your username (@username), display name, avatar, and bio are removed immediately.
Personal media files: Associated photos in Cloudflare R2 are queued for deletion within 30 days. Audio clips are deleted immediately.
Local storage tokens: Any active session tokens or preferences on your device become invalid.
3. Types of data retained and retention periods
Anonymized biodiversity observations: Because butterfly sightings are citizen-science records published under open licenses (such as CC-BY or CC0) for research and ecological monitoring, observation records (date, observed species, and protected coordinates) are retained in a strictly anonymized form, permanently severing any connection to your account or identity.
Technical network logs: For system security and fraud prevention, server access logs are automatically purged after a rolling retention period of 30 to 90 days.
